INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare the artichokes by washing and cutting off the ends of the leaves. Open the artichokes by hitting on a hard surface.
2. Combine the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, parsley, cheese, salt and pepper together. Add the oil and mix thoroughly.
3. Place artichokes in a pot so they stand straight up.
4. Spoon the breadcrumb mixture in between the leaves of the artichokes, spreading the leaves so that the mixture will go to the bottom. Pour a few tablespoons of oil over the artichoke leaves.
5. Sprinkle some salt on the bottom of the pot and add enough water so that it comes about half way up the artichokes.
6. Place lid on pot and simmer for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Artichokes are done when you can easily pull out a center leaf. Several times while the artichokes are steaming, you can use a turkey baster and take some of the water from the bottom of the pot and drip it onto the artichokes.
