1. Saute the onions in olive oil with black pepper and garlic powder.
2. Rollout half of the dough so that it is thin.
3. Take half of the onions and spread them over the rolled out dough.
4. Sprinkle the onion covered dough with a little more olive oil, oregano, garlic powder and more black pepper (if you want it spicy).
5. Cover the onion-covered dough with plenty of grated cheese.
6. Roll up the dough and onions jelly-roll style.
7. Cut the roll into 1 1/2" rolls.
8. Lay the rolls flat on a baking sheet that has a lip (to catch any run-off).
9. Flatten the rolls with your hand so that a rose-bud patter is formed. Once flattened, the rolls will be about 2 1/2" in diameter and 3/4" thick.
NOTES
The onion rolls are best prepared with lots of black pepper and are delicious as a side to any meal or as an appetizer. As leftovers, they are also excellent for breakfast!
