INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
2. Place the ham, fat side up/cut side down on a rack in a foil-lined roasting pan.
3. Score the fat and insert cloves, if using. It is easiest to poke a hole with a small sharp knife and slide the clove in, then the head of the clove doesn't break off-it is the sweetest part.
4. Bake at 325°F for about 18 minutes per pound, until a meat thermometer reads 145°F.
5. In a medium saucepan, combine the syrup, brown sugar, apple juice, mustard, cinnamon and ginger.
6. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. Careful! It will try to boil over.
7. About 20 minutes before the ham is done, spoon about half of the glaze over the top of the ham.
8. After 10 minutes, spread the remaining glaze over the ham.
9. Remove from the oven and slice.
10. Optionally return the sliced ham to the pan with the glaze until ready to serve.
